Watts / Volts = Amps 

The average electrical supply to a house is 240v 

The average watts of a house hold iron is 1200 to 1500w 

Thus 1200/240 = 5 Amps 

A kettle pulls just as much watts 1200 - 1500watts

1. Stay beside the stove when cooking, do not leave or allow yourself to be destructed 
2. Switch of the gas from the mains when not in use 
3. Ensure all the nuts are turned off, before sparking the matches 
4. Replace the gas washer whenever you go to refill the gas cylinder 
5. Keep gas cylinder at a distance from the stove and naked flame
6. Never leave matches lying around for kids to play with 
7. Always ensure you have a fire extinguisher strategically positioned in the kitchen 
8. Always ensure you have a heat alarm installed in the kitchen and check the batteries regularly
9. Ensure all windows are opened to allow for good ventilation, do not leave windows opened if trespassers can use that as access
